Jayson Brown Returns, Porzingis Drops 20 in Boston Victory

Celtics Take Commanding Lead in Championship Series

The Boston Celtics sent a resounding message to the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, dominating from start to finish in a 107-89 victory. The Celtics were led by Jayson Brown, who returned from a hamstring injury to score 24 points and grab 7 rebounds. Kristaps Porzingis also made a significant impact in his return from a calf injury, contributing 20 points and 10 rebounds.

The Celtics took control of the game early, building a 15-point lead by the end of the first quarter. The Mavericks struggled to keep pace, shooting just 33% from the field in the first half. Dallas managed to cut the deficit to 10 points at halftime, but the Celtics extended their lead back to 15 in the third quarter.

The Mavericks' offense continued to sputter in the fourth quarter, as they managed just 16 points. Meanwhile, the Celtics cruised to victory, hitting key shots down the stretch to seal the win. In the end, the Celtics shot 48% from the field, while the Mavericks shot just 38%.

The Celtics' depth was a major factor in the victory. Six players scored in double figures, including Brown, Porzingis, Al Horford (17 points), Jaylen Brown (15 points), Marcus Smart (11 points), and Robert Williams III (10 points). The Celtics also dominated the boards, outrebounding the Mavericks 50-32.

Luka Dončić led the Mavericks with 20 points and 11 rebounds, but he struggled with his shot, hitting just 7-of-21 from the field. Kristaps Porzingis was also efficient, shooting 8-of-12 from the field, but he couldn't match Brown's impact on the game.

The Celtics now hold a 1-0 lead in the NBA Finals. Game 2 will be played in Boston on Sunday, June 8.
